first post

So this is my first post. I am going to do it.

I'm going to do 101 things in 1001 days.

Over 90% of them I've never done before. There are fewer than 10 things on this list that I have done (obtain cell phone and eyeglasses, both of which are over 3 years old; volunteer at a charity event and donate blood-- just because they are good things to do again). It makes the list challenging. I wanted to make a list that was reasonable and fulfilling for my life.

I am a natural list-maker: I have a grocery list, "books to read" list, "DVDs to watch" list, "bills to pay" list and an extensive schedule/appointment book that would strike fear in any OCD individual. I chart my weight and my caloric intake (I lost over 10 lbs in 4 months doing this, so it works). I alphabetize my DVD collection (which spans over 150+ DVDs).

Inspired by a friend in 2001, I made a list of "100 Things To Do in 2001". I accomplished only 50% of those things. It meant attempting to do 1 new thing every 3 days. It was tough. I tried again in 2002 with "50 Things To Do in 2002". Then I forgot about my lists.

With the resurgence of the idea, rehashed as "101 Things in 1001 Days", I jumped on the bandwagon again. Some of the things on my list suspiciously resemble my earlier versions ("Parasailing" and "writing my grandmother a note in Chinese" is on all three lists). Some things, after four years, I no longer wish to do (like 2001's #5: "Dye my hair with streaks of bubblegum-pink colour". What was I thinking?!)

To whomever may read this list, I hope it inspires you to make change in your life too.
